PLACID Instruments
PLACID Instruments is a high quality and affordable brand specialized in noise and vibration sensors and instruments. Their measurement microphones and preamplifiers are very stable over the years under variable meteorological conditions. The instruments (sound level meter, calibrator, impedance tube, DAQ) are easy to use and come with software to post-process the registered noise and vibration data to create reports.
Impedance Tube
Applications of impedance tubes:
- testing of material characteristics and verifying material compliance before implementing the materials in the assemblies
- design of acoustic comfort in aircraft, helicopters, ships, yachts, and vehicle interiors by selecting the optimal acoustic treatments and noise barriers
- research and development of noise control products by benchmarking competitive products
- research jobs for students and universities
- validating and calibrating theoretical computational methods such as acoustic modelling
Microphones and Preamplifiers
According to different application scenarios, measurement sensors can be divided into three groups: free field, pressure field and random field. The fundamental difference between these three groups of sensors is that at high frequencies, the test wavelength is similar to the sensor size, and the presence of the sensor will affect the sound field.

The International Year of Sound 2020
**In view of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the IYS 2020 Steering Committee has decided to extend the celebration of the IYS 2020 into the year 2021**
The IYS 2020 is a global initiative to highlight the importance of sound and related sciences and technologies for all in society.
A list of events and programs have been scheduled to stimulate the understanding throughout the world of the important role that sound plays in all aspects of our society, and to encourage an understanding of the need for the control of noise in nature, in the built environment, and in the workplace.
